FAQ

Where should we have the session?

Choosing your location to have your session is where the fun really begins! Consider places that are sentimental to you and make you feel comfortable and relaxed. The park where you played as a child, a family farm, or your own home are a few ideas. I love shooting in new locations, and am up for just about anything! The outdoor studio is also an option. Located just north of Stevens Point on 10 acres of prairie and river frontage, perfect for those wanting a rustic country look.

When can I schedule my session?

Senior portrait sessions, and most other sessions, can be scheduled weekdays either in the morning or evening. I open up my season to bookings by April 1st of that same year.
Please note: warm weather sessions (June-October) book up very quickly because of senior portrait season. August session availability, for example, is typically booked full before June. Just a friendly FYI!

What if my outdoor session gets rained out?

In the case of rain, heavy wind or dangerous weather conditions, a session can be rescheduled, usually within a week. If the forecast is for a chance of rain, however, plan on keeping your session. Overcast skies actually offer the ideal lighting for portraits!

How should I wear my makeup and hair?

Wear your makeup 20% heavier than usual. This will aid in image editing and enhance your natural features. Even if you don't typically wear makeup, use a powder, lip gloss and mascara at the very least for your session. The most important thing to remember for your hair is product. On-location sessions, especially in the summer months, are subject to elements of the outdoors: humidity and wind. Frizzy hair is not included in basic retouching and is most often not able to be edited.

What kind of clothing should I wear for my portraits?

Simple and classic pieces work best. Solid mid-tone colors will not distract away from the face as bold patterned or logo pieces do. It's good to choose a variety of different items in varying colors, textures, and styles. I would be happy to help you narrow down your wardrobe choices before your session. Also, for high school seniors, keep in mind any rules your school may have for yearbook images regarding logos and graphics.

Can my portraits be retouched?

Retouching removes minor blemishes and softens the look of wrinkles, lines and strong shadows. This basic retouching is done on all prints. Extensive retouching is also offered and would have an additional one-time fee per image. Extensive retouching would include removal of stray hair, severe acne, braces removal, glasses glare other digital work that cannot be done in-studio. Often, expensive retouching can be avoided by planning ahead (ex: using styling products to avoid frizzy hair).

Can I get all my images and make prints on my own?

Yes, digital files are available for purchase from most sessions. These "digital negatives" are high resolution jpg files on a thumb drive. A written release form is included, giving the client permission to have prints made without infringing on copyright laws. Files can be purchased individually or as full collections.
FREE social media images are included with qualifying print orders. Ask Sarah for more details!
