Senior Style Guide

CLOTHING OPTIONS

A classic look that won’t ever go out of style is always your best choice. If you are choosing to bring a couple additional outfits to change into, consider these three styles:

Something Classy

A timeless look that is always in style. Consider dark denim and a button down shirt or sweater. This is something that will look good for years to come.

Something Casual

Your every day look. Take it up a notch with extra accessories if you'd like.

Something Edgy

Show your individuality.... A sports uniform, your favorite cowboy boots and hat. Something that showcases your personality and unique style.

CHECK LIST

□ CLOTHING

Long sleeves and solids photograph best but mix it up with a variety of colors and different styles, including layers. Try everything on in advance. Clothes should fit well and not be too baggy. Iron anything with wrinkles and remove lint & debris. Don’t forget the details like the right socks, shoes, belts, bras/camis & undershirts.

□ HAIR

A fresh haircut, but no less than one week.  If your hair is effected by humidity and wind, consider products to help tame the effects and bring them along for touchups. A clean shave is better than stubble, particularly if retouching is needed.

□ SKIN

Avoid flaky skin & chapped lips. Apply a mild facial moisturizer and lip balm each night in the week leading up to your session, especially if using a drying blemish treatment. Cover any tan lines. Tan lines (natural or spray) can not be retouched. If you ever wear makeup, wear about 20% more than usual, making sure that base blends well into the neck & chest. My #1 makeup recommendation is lip gloss. Even a subtle toned chapstick can really make a difference in separating lips from the face and giving a polished look.

□ HANDS

Trim and clean nails... your hands will be in some of your portraits.

□ GLASSES

If you always wear glasses, you should also wear them for your pictures. However, darkening transition lenses should not be worn. Check with your optometrist to see if you can borrow the matching sample frames without darkening lenses or have the lenses temporarily removed.

□ PROPS

Bring along anything you want to include in your portraits. Sports equipment, musical instruments, hats, cars, etc. Maybe even a favorite chair from your home for posing on. If you’re thinking about it at all… bring it along!
